Save Energy as a Family and Have Fun in the Process
Genistar has developed a free, short Family Energy Challenge course which is designed for families to work through together. It will help parents educate their children about energy and engage them in the process of saving energy in the home.
With the price of gas, electricity, and other household costs on the rise, we are all looking to cut costs. One way to do this is to reduce the amount of energy we waste at home. We all need to be more conscious of the energy we use, and it works best if the entire family gets involved.
This course is free and can be found on genistar.courses.
In this course the family will work together to:
Identify items at home which use gas and electricity
Create a plan showing how they will take steps to reduce the energy consumption
Put that plan into action and begin to use less energy
Monitor the results of their energy-saving actions
Have fun in the process of saving energy
Family Energy Challenge is designed to be led by the parents, and it challenges the entire family to reduce energy usage and save money on the bills. It is flexible enough so that it can be used with children of almost all ages. Parents are encouraged to adapt it to their child’s age and interest level.
There are printable charts for everyone to fill showing their energy-saving actions, and there is a certificate at the end.
If you would like to get your children involved in saving energy in the home, have a look at Genistar’s Family Energy Challenge on genistar.courses. You’ll need to register on the site and then enrol in a membership to access this free course.
