The Role

The Junior Compliance Officer is responsible for conducting compliance and regulatory monitoring across various aspects of the business. This role requires a strong analytical mindset to assess regulatory risks, interpret compliance data, and identify areas for improvement. The Associate will act as an escalation point for compliance queries and must apply critical thinking to problem-solving and risk assessment. A commitment to obtaining basic compliance certifications to develop a strong foundation in regulatory knowledge is necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report into the Head of Compliance and provide support in all areas of Compliance, Risk and Quality across the business.

  • Analyse compliance queues to identify trends, root causes, and potential risks, ensuring timely resolution.

  • Act as the primary escalation contact for complex compliance-related Freshdesk tickets, including regulatory concerns, complaints, and inquiries requiring in-depth analysis.

  • Conduct thorough investigations into complaints, analysing data to identify root causes, regulatory breaches, and trends, ensuring FCA timeframes are met and corrective actions are implemented.

  • Maintain a detailed complaints log, tracking case outcomes and ensuring lessons learned are shared with relevant teams to mitigate future risks.

  • Evaluate compliance processes, contributing to the compliance bulletin with insights on regulatory developments and industry trends.

  • Conduct detailed file reviews and persistency data analysis, identifying patterns and making data-driven recommendations for compliance improvements.

  • Manage the CCJ register, ensuring data accuracy and conducting follow-ups based on analytical findings.

  • Maintain and update process documentation, ensuring that procedural changes reflect evolving regulatory requirements.

  • Continuously research and analyse industry regulations, sharing key insights and implications with the team.

  • Conduct AML checks and sanction monitoring, assessing potential risks and escalating anomalies.

  • Perform in-depth KYC data analysis to assess risk exposure and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Develop and refine compliance policies, using analytical skills to identify gaps and recommend process improvements.

  • Monitor key risk indicators, identifying trends and escalating potential compliance issues proactively.

  • Investigate and document irregularities or non-compliance cases, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

  • Review client files with a critical approach, identifying regulatory gaps and recommending solutions.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to implement compliance strategies that enhance risk management and regulatory adherence.

  • Support the testing and evaluation of in-house online systems, ensuring compliance-related processes are efficiently integrated.

  • Review and update LMS training modules to meet regulatory requirements, ensuring content remains accurate and aligned with compliance standards.
